About Teresa
Some People Just Dream, Others Take Action So Their Dreams Will Come True!

Teresa Todd believes that dreams can be the inspiration that makes life fantastic!! She learned this from her parents who worked hard to provide their children a better life. They were determined to overcome the challenges and obstacles of life. They instilled in Teresa a powerful sense of faith, an optimistic sense of vision, and a passion for inspiring others to reach for the stars!

On A Personal Note

Teresa is a native of the San Fernando Valley. She witnessed the explosive transformation of the once sleepy, suburban blend of residential and agricultural properties sprinkled with commercial development to its now affluent splendor of mega malls, commuter-filled freeways, and multi-million dollar developments.

Recognized as an award winning math student with a flair for teaching, Teresa graduated with honors from James Monroe High School, received her A.A. Degree at Valley College, and continued on at California State University, Northridge as a Business Administration major.

She entered the world of banking where she absorbed the operation of a financial institution and quickly advanced to become the general ledger bookkeeper for the corporate office of a local independent bank.

In 1972, while attending Valley College, Teresa met John “Matthew” Todd. In the summer of 1973, Matt began his career with the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. One month later, Matt and Teresa were married. Then in 1975, Teresa became a Customer Service Representative for L.A.’s DWP. Within a few months, Teresa was assigned to assist the trainer re-write their training manual and re-vamp their training program.

Teresa was quickly promoted and continued to advance during the 5 years she was with DWP. During those years, Matt and Teresa bought their first home and celebrated the birth of their 2 sons Benjamin and Michael. Teresa then put her career on hold and devoted her attention to her family. She became involved in community affairs and was active in church leadership, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School.

In 1985, Teresa considered her options for the start of a new career. At that time, she had a friend who had started selling real estate. Teresa appreciated the flexibility real estate industry would allow her for continued family and church involvements. She could see that real estate would be the perfect vehicle for achieving both her professional and personal goals. Professionally, she could work with people from all walks of life, assisting them to fulfill their real estate needs, utilizing her teaching and management skills. Personally, she could spend time with her family, travel across the USA, and fulfill her dream to visit Europe, especially Spain.

Her Real Estate Experience

Obtaining her real estate license in 1985, Teresa became a consistent multi-million dollar producer for the next 14 years as a full-time real estate salesperson. Within the real estate community, Teresa proved herself to be a skillful negotiator, a resourceful problem solver, and creative marketer. During her years in sales, she acquired a wealth of real estate knowledge and developed a loyal following of committed clients. She demonstrated a genuine desire to assist clients and fellow agents succeed in their real estate endeavors. Her ability to read, write, and speak Spanish enhanced her success.

In 1998, Syd Leibovitch invited Teresa to join the Paramount Properties management team at the Porter Ranch Office. With both sons in college, this opportunity came at the most perfect time. She was then able to accomplish her original real estate goal, to be a full time manager.

Teresa loves being a Paramount Properties Branch Manager. She is free to express her passion for teaching by conducting weekly office meetings and on-going training sessions. She educates her agents with easily understood explanations, sharing her negotiating techniques, her escrow-closing skills, and her creative marketing ideas. At office meetings she challenges her agents to truly know real estate and to think like an entrepreneur. She motivates them with her extreme level of positive energy demonstrated by her continuously upbeat attitude even in difficult circumstances. She assists them with her keen insight for anticipating challenges and helps them set into motion the necessary action to overcome obstacles. Her calm, diplomatic approach is taken to a now higher and more effective level as she assists in reconciling transaction conflicts, working them through to ‘win-win’ situations. Always striving to be a better salesperson and manager, in 2003, Teresa continued her education and became a licensed broker. She whole-heartedly supports her staff and agents to excel by assisting them to set their own goals and create their own business plan to achieve and even exceed their goals. Knowing that they can count on Teresa to be available day or night to assist them, she has become affectionately known as “Mother Teresa.” She motivates them with her smile to have fun, taking time to laugh as they constantly reach for the stars. She is proud of her agents for their measurable success at making the Porter Ranch Office Paramount’s Number 1 Sales Office 5 out of the 7 years that she has been managing. In 2005, the agents had a phenomenal year, with a 35% increase in their gross commissions. Teresa is equally proud of her family. Matt and Teresa are now living in a beautiful home in Chatsworth. Matt is looking forward to retiring as early as next year. Their son Benjamin is married to wonderful young lady named Lauren. Ben is the branch manager of a credit union in Colorado. While their other son, Michael is still attending college locally. And last year, Teresa enjoyed her dream vacation in Spain. Teresa shares, “Dreams really can come true! As a child, one of my favorite fairy tales was the story of Cinderella. Not because of the obvious ending with Cinderella living happily ever after with the handsome prince, but because the ‘fairy godmother’ took simple, everyday items from Cinderella’s life (mice, horse, pumpkin, etc.,) and helped make her dreams come true. That’s what I love about real estate. In sales and in management, I am involved in the everyday lives of clients and agents. My greatest reward is seeing the excitement in their eyes when they have accomplished that impossible dream. Whether it’s a first time buyer, an agent taking their first listing, or an experienced agent making the biggest sale of their career, I love sharing that excitement with them and knowing that just maybe some of my ‘fairy godmother magic’ helped to make their dreams come true!”
